We spent the morning madly finishing the cleaning of our house in Melbourne and the packing of our Caravan and car, and finally set off, saying goodbye to Melbourne around 3pm. It had been a tiring and emotional few weeks of preparations and goodbyes to many very precious friends and neighbours in our little suburb of Springvale, and we were looking forward to our plans finally coming together.
Dwayne had spent so many hours on the old van, getting it to the stage where we were happy with living in it for a year. We had gotten to know it well, and with all its flaws have become quite fond of the beast, but still not very fond of reversing it!
After taking about an hour to get out of the Melbourne traffic that day, we drove another 3 and arrived in Shepparton, staying in a bushland spot near Victoria Park Lake. It was very picturesque and came with friendly kookaburras and a creek. This was the beginning of our adventure and it finally started to feel real!
